NPCI has issued new UPI guidelines following four outages since March, capping balance check API calls at 50 per app per user per day. Issuer banks must now show balance after every successful transaction. During peak UPI hours, non-user-initiated API calls will be restricted. PSPs must submit API plans by August 31, ahead of a July 31 rollout.
