The number of taxpayers earning over ₹1 crore per annum has risen by around 60% in India in the last four years, the Central Board of Direct Taxes said. While 88,649 taxpayers disclosed income above ₹1 crore in 2014-15, the figure was 1,40,139 for 2017-18. Further, an 80% growth was registered in the number of returns filed during the period.
