New York-based Synonym Biotechnologies, a financing and implementation platform for bio-manufacturing, has raised $6.3 million in pre-seed funding. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from Giant Ventures, Blue Horizon and Thia Ventures. Synonym has begun the development phase for its first productized bio-manufacturing facilities for non-pharmaceutical applications.
