NYT reporter sues Google, xAI, OpenAI over chatbot training data

New York Times reporter John Carreyrou, along with five other writers, sued xAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Meta and Perplexity for using copyrighted data to train AI chatbots. These companies are accused of pirating complainant's books and feeding them into the large language models that power the companies' chatbots. Notably, the case is the first to name xAI as a defendant.
