Mohandas Pai, chairman of Aarin Capital, revealed on the podcast a shocking practice he learned while heading an indirect-tax technology committee. Chief commissioners told him that in their final two years of service, officers get posted to ports "so they can make money for retirement openly". He said importing anything means paying ₹2,000-3,000 in bribes disguised as "miscellaneous charges".
