Oldest potato remains in US found in 10,900-year-old stone

Researchers have discovered potato starch residues in a 10,900-year-old stone tool in Utah, giving the earliest evidence of wild potato use in North America. Researchers are working to mine its DNA for genes resistant to drought and disease. However, the potatoes we eat today all come from a single species domesticated in South American Andes 7,000 years ago, researchers said.
