Two-time Olympic medal-winning Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has been conferred with the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army with effect from April 16. The rank was conferred to Chopra after the assent of President Droupadi Murmu. Deemed as India's second line of defence, the Territorial Army handles non-combat duties and assists in emergencies.
