Om Birla urges PACs to ensure every rupee is accounted for

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, inaugurating the Conference of Chairpersons of Public Accounts Committees (PACs) in Thiruvananthapuram, called on PACs of Parliament and State Legislatures to strengthen financial oversight. He flagged audit observations pending for 20 years, urged use of AI and data analytics, and stressed outcome-based assessment of public spending beyond mere utilisation certificates.
