WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said the Omicron variant's certain features, including its global spread and a large number of mutations, suggest it could have a major impact on the course of COVID-19 pandemic. Tedros reportedly said the Omicron variant can spread more rapidly than previous variants. WHO has called on all countries to increase surveillance, testing and sequencing.
