Google was founded on September 4, 1998 by Stanford PhD students Larry Page and Sergey Brin in a garage in Menlo Park, California. The garage, which belonged to former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, was rented out to Page and Brin for $1,700/month. The search engine has now grown into a tech giant with a market valuation over $1.9 trillion.
