The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that a person can change his religion but not his caste, as it is linked to birth. It upheld Punjab MLA Mohammad Sadique's election as his family was linked to a scheduled caste community. Earlier, his election was quashed stating that he could not contest from an SC constituency being a Muslim-converted Sikh.
