Only 100 firms account for 71% of global emissions: Study

Just 100 companies have been the source of 71% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions since 1988, according to a Carbon Majors report. The report further claims that half of the emissions were traced to 25 state-owned fossil fuel producers. If the current fossil fuel extraction trend continues, global average temperatures would rise by 4ºC by 2100, the report warns.
