A row has erupted after only two stanzas of 'Vande Mataram' were reportedly played in the first session of the newly elected Kerala Legislative Assembly on Friday. Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar later raised objection over the issue, stating, "They could have played it fully." While BJP MLA V Muraleedharan said it was an insult to the national song.
