OpenAI allowed its current and former staff with eligible shares in company to donate their equity to charity. However, the window to decide on donation amounts and details is very short. For some employees this programme, which is about 18 months overdue, could mean donating millions of dollars. This option was promised after employees sold around $1.5 billion in shares.
