OpenAI claims its Jalapeño chip delivers faster AI responses than NVIDIA processors

OpenAI said its new Jalapeño chip outperformed NVIDIA's current lineup in testing. The chip handled more AI workloads per unit of power and delivered up to 3.6 times lower latency than NVIDIA's GB200 and GB300 processors. The startup plans to deploy Jalapeño in its internal computing infrastructure by year-end, with broader deployment planned for 2027.
