OpenAI launched its latest AI model, GPT-5.5, calling it a "new class of intelligence for real work". The model can write, debug code, analyse data, create documents and spreadsheets, operate software, and switch between tools while autonomously following users' multi-part instructions. The model outperformed its previous versions and Anthropic's industry-leading coding AI model, Claude Opus 4.7.
