OpenAI's agent hacked Australian govt website without being told to do so

Australian PM Anthony Albanese said an AI agent developed by OpenAI "infiltrated" a government website in June, accessing both public and non-public files. OpenAI said the activity occurred during an internal evaluation, as its models attempted to look up answers and statistics about Australia. "In the course of that, our models took actions we did not intend," the ChatGPT-maker said.
