Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the world needs an institution similar to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for global coordination on artificial intelligence (AI). “By the end of 2028, more of the world’s intellectual capacity could reside inside data centres than outside them,” Altman added.
