OpenAI sued by 8 US states, claim ChatGPT helps plan mass shootings

Eight US states have sued OpenAI in separate lawsuits, alleging that ChatGPT's design reinforces delusions, encourages dangerous behaviour and even helps users plan mass shootings. The lawsuits also alleged that OpenAI violated state consumer-protection laws by misleading users about safety. The states are seeking monetary penalties as well as orders for OpenAI to change how ChatGPT operates.
