OpenAI has warned that the potential emergence of AI 'superintelligence' could pose "catastrophic risk" if left unchecked. It said that while majority of population can only utilise AI in the form of chatbots, its systems have started showing the ability to outperform humans and generate new knowledge. It advocated for an "AI resilience ecosystem" to align and control "superintelligent systems".
