Orange peels helped restore Costa Rica forest in 16 yrs
In 1998, a Costa Rica juice company dumped 12,000 metric tons of orange peels on a degraded pasture. A Princeton study found that 16 years later, the treated area had 3x more woody plant species and 176% more biomass than untreated land. Researchers say farm waste could aid tropical forest restoration.
