French President Emmanuel Macron extended full support to art director Thomas Jolly and performing artists from the Olympics opening show, which some saw as a Last Supper parody. "I am outraged and sad," Macron said about the threats and cyberbullying. “Nothing justifies threats against an artist.” He added the ceremony showcased French history which was all done with artistic freedom.
