The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Wednesday approved a draft bill barring people from outside the state from buying agricultural and horticultural land in 11 of its 13 districts. The move will protect Uttarakhand's resources, cultural heritage and rights of its residents, and maintain "original identity" of the state, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said. Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar have been excluded.
