The Indian Patent Office granted 1.03 lakh patents in the last fiscal year (FY24), the Ministry of Commerce & Industry said. In FY24, Indian startups, small entities and educational institutions made 2,546, 3,421 and 23,306 patent filings, respectively. Compared to 2017-18, 355% more patent applications and 543% more trademark applications were filed in 2023-24.
