About 100 teachers have died by suicide in the past six years in South Korea. According to the country's teachers' unions, one in three teachers is battling with depression. The Child Protection Act led to an upsurge in complaints from parents against teachers for poor performance of students and many teachers were expelled on charge of "emotional abuse of students".
