GST officers detected cases of input tax credit (ITC) evasion of ₹35,132 crore by 17,818 fake firms between April and October, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said. A total of 69 arrests were made in 18,876 ITC fraud cases during the period. The efforts resulted in savings of ₹6,484 crore, the minister stated.
