There are 2,65,547 posts lying vacant across various departments in different zones of Railways, Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday informed the Rajya Sabha. Of the vacant posts, 2,177 are gazetted posts and 2,63,370 are non-gazetted posts, he added. The maximum number of gazetted posts are vacant in East Central Railway at 170, followed by Southern Railway at 161.
