Over 21,400 foreigners got Indian citizenship in last 10 yrs: Govt

Over 21,400 foreigners obtained Indian citizenship in the last decade, the Home Ministry said. Nearly 15,000 Bangladeshis were granted Indian citizenship after 51 enclaves of Bangladesh were included in India under a land boundary pact in 2015. Legal migrants could be provided citizenship irrespective of religion under the Citizenship Act, 1955, the ministry replied to a query on foreign Muslims.
