Over 4,000 Israeli settlers and far-right activists entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem during the Jewish holiday of Tisha B'Av, Al Jazeera reported, citing Palestinian officials. Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also visited the site under heavy police protection. Tisha B'Av commemorates the destruction of two ancient Jewish temples believed to have stood at the site.
