As the employment-based green card backlog reaches a new record of 1.8 million cases this year, a new report by Cato Institute said new applicants from India will face a lifetime wait, and over 4 lakh will die before they receive a green card. The backlog is primarily the result of low green card caps for employer‐​sponsored immigrants and investors.
