AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi announced that his party would contest the upcoming West Bengal elections in alliance with Humayun Kabir's newly-formed Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP). The alliance plans to contest 182 of the total 294 Assembly seats, with AIMIM expected to field candidates on eight of them. Kabir formed the party after he was suspended from the TMC.
