A former enforcer of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, John Jairo Velásquez, also known as Popeye, who reportedly killed around 300 people, now has a YouTube channel with over one lakh subscribers. He said that his channel, Popeye Arrepentido (remorseful Popeye), is to warn youngsters away from crime. Velásquez was paroled in 2014 after serving 22 years in prison.
