Pain zone in human brain identified

Researchers at Oxford University have identified an area in the brain, namely the dorsal posterior insula, directly related to pain intensity, that can be switched off in patients experiencing extreme pain. The finding will help detect pain in people with limited communication abilities. The researchers found this area by developing a new method of tracking brain activity, a researcher said.
