Paint that 'sweats' to keep homes cool without AC created
short by Swati Dubey / on Monday, 4 August, 2025
Researchers have developed an experimental paint that "sweats" to cool buildings without air conditioning. The paint combines solar reflection, evaporative cooling, and radiative cooling, reflecting 88-92% of sunlight and emitting 95% of absorbed heat. Nanoparticles, polymers, and salt enhance durability. Homes coated with it were found to have used 30-40% less electricity for cooling.
