A Gustav Klimt painting was sold for $236.4 million (₹2,095 crore) on Tuesday, becoming the second most expensive work of art ever auctioned in history. The auction took place at Sotheby's new premises in New York. Six people took part in a 20-minute bidding battle for the Portrait of Elisabeth Lederer which was painted between 1914 and 1916.
