Senior military leaders from Pakistan and Bangladesh held a rare high-level meeting in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. The militaries referred to one another as "two brotherly nations" united in resisting "external influences" and vowed to boost defence ties. Bangladesh, once called 'East Pakistan' gained independence from Pakistan (then known as West Pakistan) after the War of Liberation in 1971.
