The Pakistani army has alleged that the Afghan Taliban is facilitating terrorists to infiltrate the border to carry out acts of terror in the country. Their military spokesperson, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said the other side opens fire at the border to "provide cover for illegal infiltration of terrorists and...smugglers into Pakistan". The countries share a 2,600-km border.
