During an interview, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the element of religion was "deliberately" introduced during the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. Noting that the Pakistani leadership and their Army chief are "very driven by an extreme religious outlook, he added, "There's clearly some connect between the views...and the behaviour that was done."
