Pakistan & Bangladesh resume direct trade for 1st time since 1971

Pakistan and Bangladesh have resumed direct trade for the first time since the latter gained independence from erstwhile West Pakistan in 1971. A government-approved cargo of 50,000 tonnes of rice departed from Karachi's Port Qasim. The deal was finalised in February and the shipment will be completed in two phases, enhancing economic ties and facilitating direct shipping routes between countries.
