Pakistan’s Punjab province has lifted a ban on kite flying during the Basant festival after a period of 20 years. The ban was imposed around 2005 following numerous fatal accidents, primarily involving motorcyclists and children, whose necks were cut by sharp, glass-coated, or metallic kite strings. Under the new guidelines, children under 18 will not be allowed to fly kites.
