The Paraguayan government condemned the racist remarks made by senator Celeste Amarilla against France captain Kylian Mbappé, saying they were contrary to the values of peaceful coexistence and respect for human dignity. Rejecting the remarks, it said they in no way represent the position of the Paraguayan government or its people. Amarilla had described Mbappé as "colonised Cameroonian".
