PayPal Co-founder's data mining startup wins $876mn contract

PayPal Co-founder and early Facebook investor Peter Thiel's data mining startup Palantir Technologies has won a $876 million contract to provide software to the army of the United States. The startup has partnered with Raytheon, a technology company that specialises in defence, for the purpose. Palantir beat seven other proposals for the decade-long contract, the US Defense Department said.
