Penguins help scientists track toxic chemicals in Argentina: Study

Scientists are using penguins as "marine detectives" to track chemicals in water, air and other surfaces along Argentina's remote southern coast, a study showed. Scientists used absorbent chemical-detecting leg bands on the penguins, which helped them detect toxic polyfluoroalkyl compounds, known as "forever chemicals". These compounds are resistant to heat, water, and degradation.
