Rajya Sabha has passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, to ban real-money online games. Speaking on the Bill, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that 45 crore people in India lost an amount of over ₹20,000 crore on online money gaming. He called online money gaming a menace like drugs, warning that addiction has claimed several lives.
