PepsiCo has offered to settle with four Gujarat farmers who allegedly grew a patented potato variety used in Lay's chips without permission. The farmers were asked to either grow other potatoes or join PepsiCo's authorised cultivation program. PepsiCo supplies the potato variety to a group of farmers who in turn sell their produce to the company at a fixed price.
