A BBC documentary revealed the dark side of the perfume industry, focusing on Egyptian jasmine cultivation. Children as young as five pick jasmine flowers for as little as $1 a day, while perfumes containing this prized ingredient can retail for up to $300. Some of the most iconic perfumes contain the Egyptian jasmine that is processed locally and used globally.
