Persistent bad breath could signal more than oral neglect: Expert

According to Dr Shalu Bhardwaj, Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, persistent (bad breath stems from intra-oral causes (gum disease, saliva-reduction) or systemic conditions like acid-reflux, metabolic disease, kidney or liver disorders. Odour-causing bacteria or volatile compounds from internal organs can manifest as bad breath, making bad breath a potential clinical warning sign.
