Punjab Cabinet on Thursday hiked prices of petrol and diesel by 61 paise and 92 paise per litre, respectively. The cash-strapped state expects to garner ₹392 crore/year by hiking fuel prices. Before this decision, price of petrol was ₹96.17 and diesel was ₹86.32 in Jalandhar. Further, government withdrew subsidised electricity scheme to domestic consumers having up to 7 KW load.
