Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri responded to a reporter questioning him about people arguing that a 3-5% drop in mileage should result in 3-5% cheaper ethanol-blended fuel. Linking mileage with cost at pump would cause "utter chaos", he said. Noting that India's fuel prices are amongst the cheapest, he added, "Ethanol procurement price is set once a year."
