The Philippines has suspended the deployment of Filipino workers to Saudi Arabia following reports of employers and recruiters making migrants pay for quarantine and insurance upon their arrival. Nearly 500 workers bound for Saudi Arabia were barred from flying out on Friday. Saudi Arabia hosted one out of five Filipinos who landed jobs abroad in 2019, according to government data.
